Mold Removal & Remediation

Mold is not always the bad guy. In fact, without mold, nature would have a hard time decomposing natural and raw materials. Mold becomes an issue when the growth becomes concentrated. Overtime it can start emitting toxins that can be hazardous to people with allergies or young children.

If you start to notice a musty smell in your property, it may be time to have your mold levels tested and checked. Depending on the results, the next step will be to hire a certified mold professional to handle the remediation and removal.

Mold Remediation Techniques

DeShano Restoration is certified by the IICRC in mold remediation. Each of our technicians are completely trained in the proper techniques to effectively remove mold from your property.

After conducting an initial evaluation of the affected areas, our team will be able to determine the entire scope of damage. Obvious mold damage is usually the tip of the iceberg; with much of the damage hidden behind walls, among the insulation and other areas unseen.

Contain

Using a combination of temporary barriers made of poly and negative pressure, a professional mold remediation contractor will ensure proper containment of the affected areas.

If mold is found in multiple areas of the property, separate containment chambers will be built to ensure mold spores do not spread to unaffected areas of the property.

Proper Personal Protection Gear

To ensure optimal safety, our crews will arrive equipped with the proper personal protective gear. Each containment chamber will have a separate space for workers to dress; keeping mold spores contained in the affected areas.

Scrub, Sand & Clean

Once the proper containment has been established, remediation can begin. Using a variety of tools, our technicians will scrub the moldy areas. Where mold has settled in, our team will utilize sanders and dry ice blasters to remediate the space.

Next,we will clean the space with professional products that not only sanitize the areas, but prevent future mold growth as well.

Deodorize

There are a variety of various odor removal techniques, however when it comes to mold, there are two effective options.

Hydroxyl Generators

Safe to use in occupied spaces, hydroxyl generators are ideal when businesses cannot shut down or homeowners opt to stay onsite. Extremely effective in the presence of mold, these generators emit hydroxyl molecules that combine with the odor. The combination creates a chemical reaction that results in dissipation of the mold odor.

Hydroxyl generators are usually the first line of defense, safe to use and a cost-effective solution to odor removal.

Ozone Machines

For situations where all occupants can be evacuated, ozone machines are extremely effective. Within 24 hours, odors can be permanently removed. Since these machines convert oxygen to ozone, anything living must be evacuated. This includes plants, animals and humans.

Remove the Moisture source

Before our technicians complete the mold remediation project, they will determine the moisture source. Mold requires water to colonize and spread, which means an unknown source of chronic moisture is present. Hidden pipe leaks, standing water within the basements or moisture damage from a leaking roof are all areas we evaluate.

Licensed, bonded and insured, our team can effectively identify the moisture source and provide the necessary repairs; ensuring mold growth will not return.
